I am at home and will be until early July. This is the longest period I have been home in a long time. It is a struggle for me, for when I travel I am better organized and more productive. Regardless I am blessed with a good family and a few close local friends, plus some good international friends. Life is so complicated and demanding I am working harder to keep in contact with people around the world. I really feel we are part of one family and if everyone thought that way we would have far less problems in the world. It is also a challenge to balance what the media would have us believe is the good life and what we feel in our hearts is the good life.
Richard Leider says the good life is ... Living in the right place, surrounded by the right people, doing the right work, ON PURPOSE! I add to his quote by saying ... living in the place you love, surrounded by people you love, doing the work you love, on purpose!
I wonder if we give up what we love and allow others like the media to tell us what we should love. The media tells us we should love others body style rather than our own, that we should love others homes, cars, bank accounts, job, etc., rather than our own, and most importantly, we should love others thoughts rather than our own.
I think people are smarter than we give ourselves credit for. We are not stupid although we act that way sometimes. Often we just give up too easily and accept ideas that we know in our hearts are incorrect and indeed unhealthy thoughts.
We are noble beings, we are not animals although we often give into our animalistic behaviors. We are better than that. He has created us as noble beings but we often abase ourselves. We would rather chase after the right car, house, clothes, than chase after being a better, wiser, kinder and happier person.
Maybe it is time to stop and really think about what others tell us is the perfect life and what we really believe. I believe whomever is reading my blog is fundamentally a good person, a person worth knowing and someone who if given a chance could add value to my life. Yes I am speaking about you.
Thanks for being who you are and for taking time to read my thoughts. Now take a moment to say thanks. Thanks that you have the eyes to read this blog, thanks that you have the fingers to type on your keyboard and thanks that you woke up today, when many others cannot and did not.
Warm regards and thanks, Jim.

What a great weekend I am having. My oldest boy Paul & his wife Laila, my other son Chris & his wife Leili, a great family friend Tobin - a professional film maker and photographer, and my wife Bonnie and I are all in our home in Dorchester, Canada. Tobin has shot over 1200 pictures of the event. Some will show up on my facebook and my website. We having a great visit and really enjoying each other's company. Laughter, prayers and great joy. This is what life should be and is for the Heidema clan. Thank you to God for this gift of family.
